Watch C3BU in A to Z Columbia County
C3BU began with the idea that Columbia County could do more to serve a great community.
In 2010, Columbia County received a Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) Grant. The BTOP grant was used to build a county-wide network of fiber-optic lines that connects all of our community anchor institutions (CAI) such as schools, government buildings, and public safety sites. Over 100 CAI are connected using this fiber.
C3BU owns and operates a fiber network that consists of a point-of-presence (POP) facility, eight communication tower facilities, and over 320 route miles of underground fiber-optic open-access network in Columbia County Georgia.
The C3BU network currently offers ten Gigabits bandwidth and is scalable to meet customer requirements. The Dense Wave Division Multiplex (DWDM) platform is Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 3.0 certified to provide true carrier-class performance to our customers. The C3BU Software Defined Network (SDN) also provides carrier-class packet optical transport services to other service providers.
C3BU directly serves Community Anchor Institutions (CAI) of Columbia County, including government, education, public safety, and non-profit facilities. C3BU currently partners with multiple providers for commercial and residential services.
